With the weekend on the verge of happening, allow us to give you a suggestion as to where you should be. Off the bat, this is a Mr. Bugsly event, the spot is Hudson Terrace, and the music is being brought to you by none other than Lowtemp's Exmag, also joined by Love & Logic, The Unsheathed, and Narkatta. The night will be undoubtedly filled with soulful body moving music.
Lowtemp Family
Gramatik & Eric Mendelson
Last time we saw Exmag in action was at The Age Of Reason album release party earlier in the year. The group is a collective of musicians, featuring Eric Mendelson on guitar, Tyler Dondero on the keyboard, Mike Iannatto on controls and Illumntr on vocals. It's like a Lowtemp musical symbiosis on stage. There's so much fun and sexy energy in the room when these guys are on. The crowd that comes out to these shows are also just as awesome and super friendly.
The show is 21+, so leave the younger adults at home for the night. Also, this is a free show with an RSVP as well, so you can hit that up and RSVP HERE. After midnight the party goes $10. Even at that price, it's a steal. Let all get down and soulfully funky this Saturday night, you already know!
Back when Gramatik released The Age of Reason, we were introduced to the styles of Gibbz. Staying true to the age of funk, Gibbz brings sexy back to EDM. Packed with delicious synth and solid dance beats, this is some serious baby making making for any lover of funk and something fresh for us. Introducing his new EP: WHO GIBBZ A F#@$
Enjoy the crap out of this. We are over here, it's like bathing in relaxing waves of awesome.
There are a couple of shows coming up that you can catch Gibbz at: -The Who Gibbz a F#@$ Spa Party w Branx & Pomo @ Body by Brooklyn
We've been waiting for some time to get our hands on Gramatik's new music, and it's finally here. The Age Of Reason is quite possibly one of Denis's best releases yet, and all while staying true to his mantra of #digitalfreedom. From his views on our society to the very essence of the LP title, this release embodies so much more than just dope tracks.
The LP features 15 tracks, all being released off Gramatik's label, Lowtemp. The Age Of Reason (from here on it will be referred to as TAOR) is Gramatik's first full length release through Lowtemp with tons of soul in it. When listening to it for the first time, the amount of live instruments mixed together with the futuristic stylings is astounding. One could label this music as future-funk-space-jazz-blues... it is literally genre defying. It really shows how much Denis has grown musically all the while breaking the status quo of EDM.
Since his first appearance on the scene in 2009, Gramatik has been sharing all of his music, for free. In 2010 he had already released five records, and then began posting links of torrents that contained his entire discography. Thanks to this method of file sharing, Gramatik's name became an EDM household name, and spawned a very dedicated and loving fan base. His music was spread out and his shows were popping.
Gramatik is very outspoken when it comes to his views of our society and how we handle different laws. With his last album, appropriately named #digitalfreedom, he encouraged a new era of copyright law and discourse, all the while crediting torrenting to being a major factor in his success. He also is quite adamant about Nikola Tesla, his legacy, and his mindful progression living as a whole. Originally, Tesla's plan was to create free energy for all people. This mindset most definitely plays a role in how Denis shares his music. For TAOR, Gramatik made a partnership with BitTorrent to release the LP. On the download there are two special video tracks, making the connection between Denis and his fans that much closer.
The album was released on January 25th, and with a huge bang in NYC. There was an album release party over at the Best Buy Theater. The show sold out during presale. That is how dedicated the Gramatik and Lowtemp families are. While at the show, we met people from all over the East Coast, all the way down to Virginia. Gramatik shared the stage with Exmag, Gibbz, Branx, Late Night Radio and TOKiMONSTA. The party was off the hook to say the least. Check out the Pictorial Walkthrough and photo albums to catch the fun.
The next scheduled show in America is for none other than the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in CO. Gramatik will be HEADLINING!! Get tickets HERE. So now you know a little more about the man and his own growing legacy. Go and download the album (link HERE) and kick it back for a little while. It's free, but please consider donating a little something to support this incredible artist. Let's get funky!
Way back when in 2012, Gravitas Recordings kicked off their first ever volume of the Neurovation Charity Compilation. They teamed up with a great lineup of artists from all over the world, including Gramatik, Kraddy, Knight Riderz, Minnesota and Starkey to name a few. All proceeds of this compilation release benefited Charity:Water, bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. After this initial team up and release, another relationship with the label began to blossom, with Australian producer, Mr Bill.
Mr Bill
In conjunction with Mr Bill, Gravitas Recordings ran a remix contest featuring his song Cheya, again to help raise money for Charity:Water. It was a beautiful thing, first seeing all the more well known artists coming together to support a cause, and then the outreach to the EDM community as a whole. After the contest ended, six talented producers were featured on the remix album. We followed the contest right HERE on EGP, so you can check out some of our top picks for who would walk away winning their titles... and one such artist did indeed win the Grand Prize. Haywyre (who caught him at Lightning in a Bottle?!).
Not even 24 hours ago, a track posted on Soundcloud caught our eye, a collaboration between Mr Bill and Haywyre titled Dress Codes. It feels like things are coming full circle, and another producer that deserves our attention is working together with a name that is getting around. The track is absolutely classy, fun, jazzy, and everything you need to move. Grab your slippers, smoking jacket and ottoman, this is going to be a good listening experience.
When I first began taking photos with Reptar Photography back in December, I never thought I would be shooting an event like Camp Bisco. Well, this site has grown a lot since then, and Bisco did indeed happen in all of it's glory. These Pictorial Walkthroughs serve not only to show you all of my shots from a set, but also to show my progression as a photographer, as well as tell a story of who I met, what I saw... I hope you enjoy!
