Time and Space - BangOn! NYE 2015

The biggest party night of the year is coming up and fast! New Years Eve will be an evening to remember with a ton of sold out performances all over the world and countless parties all over to go and check out! We are lucky to be in a mecca like New York City, for we have the opportunity to check out an epic show, brought on by BangOn! NYC.

Time and Space NYE 2014
BangOn! NYC will be holding their NYE party, 'Time and Space', in an undisclosed warehouse location. You need to buy tickets, get on the waiting list, or hope it doesn't sell out and get there when they release the info online. This keeps up with the vibes of those underground parties we've had in years past, or "outlaws". Back then you'd call a phone number at a certain time to find out the location, it was always intriguing. BangOn! prides itself on throwing parties that incorporate all of your senses with Burning Man style art installations, circus performers, local food vendors and of course an awesome lineup.

Easter Island 2014
Time and Space NYE 2014
Bringing in the New Year at 'Time and Space' with be headlining Lee Foss, Anabel Englund, Thirftworks, Gladkill, Shiba San, Sweater Beats and many more! It's a lineup meant to make you dance! The music will help guide the night's vibes and bring out some of your best moves. Always pumped to see Gladkill as well. Every time we see him live it's a pleasure.

On the visual side of the plate Light Harvest and Reality Engine will be using state of the art immersive video mapping technology and holographic projections. That is pretty much a quote and it sounds epic!!

A little Reality Engine visuals featuring the Rolling Stones vs David Vedetta:

There will also be:

-Eric Coolidge building two new Burning Man art cars
-One flying saucer on a scissor lift that can hold 3 people and able to go 18' in the air
-One build on a box truck that can hold 25 people

Just a heads up, the past two BangOn! events sold out in advance, so grab your tickets now, the link is just below. They limited them a little bit this year to help make a bit more room on the dance floor to move! Can't wait to see you there!

Z-Dar - NYC Events: 666's Black Mass

Whatsup everybody? Z here, I wanted to share with you a local show that you'd be missing out so much if you decided not to go. Our friends over at 666lights are throwing their first event ever, and they're doing it BIG.

Black Mass, September 21st, is being headlined by none other than Airwave. Other headliners include Mantis, and Jansten; then the whole package gets rounded up with other great acts great enough to be headliners themselves. You get DarkElixr, Omega, Druley, Doctor Voodoo, and It Lives, all these artists brimming with intensity with a darker themed event at Highline Ballroom. I'm more than excited to catch it myself so in celebration of which today at EGP I'm gonna give you all an overview of the headliners at Black Massive.

Jantsen_ When The Beats Drop (112 Preview) by jantsenmusic

Jansten is no stranger to the heavy bass dubstep scene, he has collaborations with a lot of other well known DJs including Stephan Jacobs, Bassnectar, AFK, and Dirt Monkey just to name a few. He is definitely one of the crowd favorites expected to tear it up come Black Massive.

Mantis - Jump OUT NOW by MANTIS Dubstep

Mantis is a personal favorite of mine. He's one of the main constant producers in the "Deathstep" scene of bass music. Mantis combines darker, heavier, sharper, deathmetal influenced song structures and it makes for a sound that's definitely eye opening. They also have a lot of interesting remixes with interesting artist choices, they have a Bong remix which is just awesome in itself and also do a remix of Suicide Silence that fits better than you could ever imagine it.

Airwave - Reset by laurentairwave

Airwave is in a class all his own, Laurent Veronnez aka Airwave has been in the EDM scene for longer than a decade, being one of the more esteemed artists to come around in recent years. He has over 200 releases out under his belt and is responsible for  many of the highly regarded Trance and Progressive House tracks.

This is just a small taste of the awesome that will take place come Black Massive. You also have the very talented Morgan Freeman on the visuals. Remember everybody it's September 21st so mark your calendars and take off the next day if you need to because you don't wanna miss this all. Airwave in of itself is a reason to go let alone the rest of the amazing lineup, I hope to see you all there.

Mario Party 4 - Post Review

Two weekends ago was the mark of what's was very well the biggest event here in New York City this year, and every party I've been to last, 'cept City Lights. Hell, I knew about it before even going to a rave. I actually got the inside scoop from the one and only Sam Froond (Urban Adventures), on Halloween 2011, as he showed me the video and pictures he took from Mario Party 3. He told me I had to be there, and that it was going to blow my mind. Sam was right, this party was thrown bigger than any party I've seen to this day, and it wasn't even done by bringing out the biggest banger DJs, it was done with love.

An Amped Up Crowd, Ye! By: Ronnie C.
Corny right?! It's so true though. Imagine I have this map in front of me. Tight Crew would be up here, about 5-6 hour drive from us. It felt like they brought the ENTIRE coastal north east to a warehouse in Brooklyn. That the first thing I noticed at this event, I didn't know 3/4's of the people. While totally not a bad thing, the vibes change from laid-back to adventure. I found myself constantly asking where they were from, and if they said NY and I didn't know them, I felt totally silly. But it was amazing to see so many people coming from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut... and so on. They came out to party with their people and favorite promoters/producers.That's family, that's love.

The party was held at The Lab. Even though I've been hearing people complain about this place since December, I've seen some amazing parties go down here, and this one blew them all away with decorations. Oh my god. The moment you walked in was like color everywhere. And you walked in from the front gates, so your in the smoking area outside from the get-go. There was a giant mushroom bouncy castle, about four different vendors including Electrik Graffiti with their tents lighting up. In the back there was even a wacky-wild-flailing-inflatable-arm-tub-man.

Once you walked inside, now that was wild! They had the Mario World coin boxes everywhere, coins, Mario decals, projections, coins, ghosts, balloon fish, and a big balloon Mario (keg included).... deco was everywhere. The way the rooms were split up was pretty cool too. You had the main stage with the bar in the back (they had a shy guy flying around!), the smaller room to the side (where you use to walk in) with not only a DJ spinning, but Nintendos set up with games and bean bag chairs to lounge in, and of course, up stairs with more talent rocking out. So many people were dressed up! You had your ravers in raver gear, and tons of Mario related costumes. I saw Bowsers, Marios, Luigis, Boos, Peachs... Diddy Kong! Always a fun time when people are dressing up and contributing to the atmosphere.

I was really excited to catch Subsonik spinning! that was a great treat. I got turned onto him the second I heard a track. Check him out, set were amazingly live! Gotta love Soundcloud!

Did I mention the volume of people there? The spot was alive with tons of energy, and people of all shapes and sizes and from all over... I think some people really wanted that to be like a festival. It would have been pretty interesting camping out with all these people, especially if it were at The Lab in Brooklyn... right. I mean there was full body painting going on, a guy on stilts, a drum circle (normal for any party That Guy is at!), tons of kandi and love going around and lots to do.

Last-Last Weekend's Adventures (Magik Factory & RAGELAND!)

Playing catch up can be fun, especially if it means reliving my adventures! Last weekend (18th-20th) was one of those adventures! It all started out in Jersey with my Electrik Graffiti peoples. We had to get ready to go to two locations for Friday. We were in New Jersey for Subground Promos Magik Factory and that night was also Kataparti, Biggie Stardust's birthday party!! So we chilled and got everything together for the long days ahead, after all, Magik Factory was an all day event!

Here's to a Great Weekend! By: Triple Threat Productions

I stayed in Jersey with Koyote and Purple Panther for the festival. The day was GORGEOUS outside. The Pavilion in Budd Lake, 75 degrees outside, tents and lots of color and colorful people, all the right ingredients to have an awesome day... minus this being the day all the major festivals hit the NY/NJ area. We're talking EDC and Bonnaroo. Because of the big names in town, many people were not coming out the the underground. Aside from not having a ridiculous number of people come down, the day was awesome. We had the music playing outside for a while, some kandi making, photos (by the awesome guys at Triple Threat Productions), tents, candy and body painting. The people were really awesome and down to earth as well, I must have had eight really meaningful conversations with people... I appreciated that a lot. The music was really good too, there were some DJs there that were spinning some sick tracks. Hopefully next time around this one-day festy will get some more publicity and more people down, everyone there had a blast!

Day two of the weekend included me working a full day and then heading out to what was probably the most visually stimulating party of the year thus far, Rageland! Eddie and Kat (Heart of Brooklyn Tattoo) went all out for the sequel of Adventures to Raveland. I say visually stimulating because the decorations were like none I've ever seen by any "smaller" productions company. We're talking the entire main stage covered in cut sheets and glowing, little kandi trees, digital mapping on the walls by Bluecrash (Do yourself a favor and look him up, Morgan Freeman), Kevin Carpet by the rooftop doorway ("Never a party without him!!" - Maria [Flux]), live painting on canvas and on bodies by Firsty's Visual Paint Experience, the roof had an entire wall covered with projections on it from lasers and all sorts of lights everywhere (all thanks to Audiolust), cutouts all over the walls.... it was all truly an amazing sight to see.

Firsty's Visual Paint! By: Blue Raven
Sparkles!! By: Blue Raven

The talent brought in was some of New York's finest playing all sorts of genres. You had hardstyle, elctro, psytrance, house... anything you could think of mixed into the night and people were raging out to it! You had glovers everywhere, people spinning poi and some sick fire poi too. I saw some sick light shows at the Electrik Graffiti tent, I felt like I was a magnet for them. So many new glovers are getting good really fast. It was exciting to see...and made me want to level up too. Also at the tent you had Triple Threat set up taking photos and video, doing what they do best!

Weekend Massive!

Everywhere you go to a rave scene, there are the people behind every party making it happen. Some production crews are bigger than others, and some have obtained a deserved notoriety behind their names. One of these companies is Tight Crew.

Tight Crew is based out of New England, throwing some of the biggest and best parties on the east coast. Four the past three years, they've graced New York with an amazing party known as Mario Party. Aside from the amazing marketing potential the name has, the event lives up to it's name. Here's a peek at how the party went down last year, photos by Sam Froond. This video also was the prime inspiration for the Pictorial Walkthroughs.

This year is number 4, and has gotten hype like none other. Costumes people are wearing will be epic. The lineup is fresh. Deco has been amazing years past, and will probably be equally if not more so awesome this year. You want to go to this party. Why? Because I knew about this party prior to coming onto the scene.

I'm looking forward to the DJs that they're bringing out, especially Subsonik. He lays out some awesome Drum and Bass, can't wait to catch the set. The rest of the lineup is sick, and there is really only one DJ that's a "resident BK DJ", Atom C. So what are you waiting for? Get your ticket now and save $10.

MOAR BISCO!

Gahhhh I have some awesome news for the East Coast and anyone who is a fan of amazing events! Earlier today, Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits and Conspirator let facebook know some awesome news. Camp Bisco is NOT the only Bisco event happening this year. That's right...get ready for City Bisco!

October 5 and 6, The Disco Biscuits will be headlining this two day festy in their hometown of Philadelphia, PA aka known as City Bisco. The event will take place at Philadelphia's The Mann Center and a full lineup and details will be announced soon.

The Disco Biscuits' official website also says, "In addition to the four screaming Biscuits sets, you can expect a healthy dose of the best bands and DJs from around the world." I bet we can! You bet your ass this event will kick your ass. I mean, look at Camp Bisco! The 11th one coming up and one of the most amazing lineups to date. I'll admit I wanted to see Snoop and Wiz on this one...maybe they'll pop up for a cameo.... who knows? More on 'Bisco' events and other events soon! Check out this INTERVIEW about Camp Bisco! Get your tickets HERE. Stay tuned for more awesomesauce!!

Cinco De Mayo!!

Seems like the majority of parties lately have been at the newest welcome addition to the BK underground rave scene, the 12 Spot (aka The Hindsdale). You've read about it in previous reviews (Mad World, Sugar Rush), but this time around, the party was predominately on the roof.

Caaaaaaandy BY: Paus3
The 5th of May, a day immortalized in drowning in beer and partying it up. Why? Well other than the historical significance, to party! What better way than to stomp around in the early summer weather? This party was pretty cray, although when I first got there it seemed almost dead. Party starts at 2pm? Yea a lot of people aren't coming out that early. But, my eyes were deceiving me. You see, the party was on the roof. About 50-60 people were inside while close to 300 (when I got there) were jamming upstairs.

Party Up in Here! BY: Paus3

Sweetsauce BY: Ronnie C.
The place was alive! This event brought forward some new twists. In the house was The Brooklyn Salsa Company! The guys that run the company are all artists themselves. Playing in bands, spinning records, being themselves. Since they are all such vibrant personalities, these spicy connoisseurs are making a documentary about their company and themselves. Why were they at a BK rave? Simple, they are artists and want to reach the artistic people. Genius. So not only did they have an enormous box of chips and all different flavors of their salsa, Rob Behnke was on stage spinning some of his trancealicious tracks. It was great meeting them, and the salsa's pretty damn good too.

Although there weren't many people downstairs, Morgan Freeman had the place looking like light wonderland. His visuals never cease to amaze me, you need to check out his work. He is a very talented individual and we are lucky to be able to experience his work first hand the way we do. HOMAGE!! Also on lighting was Paradox Productions (pew pew). Greeting all the people as they came upstairs was the one and only Kevin Carpet. Always active with the crowd, this living piece of art even got a chance to squeeze in an interview with the Triple Threat Production team!

Triple Threat has been on the NYC scene for a little over a month now, and their videos are pretty kick ass (check out this one HERE). It's great to see more than just party videos going up. HOMAGE. They had set up shop with Electrik Graffiti the back right corner of the roof, offering a place to chill, get a light show, and buy rave goodies. Some interviews went down there, including one with the owners of Satellite Records. Their very own DJ Bill was spinning and TTP and EG were lucky enough to have them hanging out. I even saw them enjoying a couple light shows!

Sugar High!

This past weekend was perhaps one of the best events I have been to this year. Yea I said it. I said it not only because I love Tara, Sue and Sacha, but because this party had the most upbeat music, energetic vibes, and crazy amount of people that had only been to a few raves. In one word, this event was uberfantasticsome.

So Many People and Lights BY: Ronnie C.
Sugar Rush, presented by Tara Tiger, Sasha Alexandra and Sue Sarcastic. Held at the same spot as Madworld, the 12 spot. It seems that party by party this spot gets cooler and cooler. The theme was sugar [duh], so there was a ton of color everywhere! They had a huge gumball machine with cup cakes on layered tiers. Talent that flew in from all over the states. DJs spinning their sets on the rooftop. Electrik Graffiti introducing a new banner signing and snow cones, as well as bringing in Defective Albino to draw Mooker Commissions (GET ONE). Dudes bbqing chicken. Fire Poi... glovers galore... not to mention some amazing visuals from Morgan Freeman and everyone's favorite living piece of art, Kevin Carpet.

Cuppy Cakes! BY: Yaz
When I first got there it was already 9pm, three hours into the party. The 12 spot is fairly large, and although there were about 400 people already in the house, it felt kinda spread out. I had never seen the DJs on the roof before, so I shot up there to see how it was going. Some people were dancing while the majority of people were partying and chilling. This presented the great opportunity to meet a ton of new people. What amazed me the most is how many people were there for their first rave, or even the ones that could count how many events they went to on one hand. These kids are basically the future of the scene here, and of course should all be welcomed with open arms and a kick ass light show.

Fire Poi BY: Ronnie C.

They Call Him... Gimmiks BY: Reptar
And light shows were given. So many glovers had come out to this. If you stood on the balcony and looked out into the crowd, you'd see show after show, ten feet away from the next. Seeing so much color from up top was pretty awesome. Morgan had killer visuals too, my personal favorite being that of Biggie Stardust as the digital hostess. Awesomesauce and kudos! That adds so much to the vibes in the room, loved it.

YEEEE Buddy! BY: Triple Threat Productions
By the time the clock hit 11, the whole building was shaking. This was the party to be at, even if you've never raved before, this is where you wanted to be. The music was all hard-style and happy hardcore. It was just.... happy pumped up music! There were a lot of local DJs performing sets, but there were a few out-of-towners that came to grace us with new twists to going hard on the 1s and 2s. One of which was the headliner of the night, Jimni Cricket. She was awesome on the main stage! I actually ran into her randomly on the rooftop and struck up a convo about music and traveling. She was so cool and down to earth, and really cute too! Check her out on Facebook (fan page literally) and Soundcloud.
